An interesting read in the self-proclaimed "weird science" realm admits the intrigue of a deeper abstraction of space and time.  According to the work of Geoffrey F. Chew in the 60's, a so-called "bootstrap hypothesis" was conjured up; through the study and experimentation with the S-matrix theory.   Though the S-matrix theory has been all but abandoned by scientific study, it remains the best accepted approach to the problem of quantum gravity.

The S-matrix theory led to the currently popular string theory and super string theory. The bootstrap hypothesis states that both directions of view, both "up" into the heavens and "down" into the microscopic, are infinite in direction.  And that in both directions, there exists one source of relativity, whereby there is a "loop" through the universe and the microscopic.

Instead of thinking about the universe in size as linear (infinitely small to infinitely large), it is all self contained within itself.

Things start to seem very ambiguous and unimaginable as we move our perspective through the range of "sizes" in the universe.  According to the anthropocosmic / esoteric view, the same would be expected - As we peer out into the heaven's we see the inner workings of our own beings.

Interactive scale slider, check this out, it's really a cool tool to get a mental grasp on the mind boggling scale of the microcosmos.
