The Yuga Cycle, and ancient Indian measure of the Great Cycle
It is becomming increasingly probable that the great cycle of time, the Great Year, is caused by our sun's eliptic journet around the Dog star Sirius. If this is true, why have so many ancient cultures highlighted this phenomenon? What effects might this long cycle have on our perception of reality?

It is purported that the mysterious Dogon people, inhabitants of the central plateau region of Mali, have passed down knowledge from ancient times regarding the star Sirius.

In fact we won't see one in the lifetime of the United States, or even the English language for that matter. This great cycle is the longest period of time measurable by man; accurately.
Scientists speculate the distance of nearby stars and galaxies, they speculate the age of rock formations and plankton fields, but this span of time is no speculation. The great cycle is measurable, though tricky due the the nature of the elliptic. The great year is a repetitive cycle, and all other cycles of earth fall within its framework.
An interesting read in the self-proclaimed "weird science" realm admits the intrigue of a deeper abstraction of space and time. According to the work of Geoffrey F. Chew in the 60's, a so-called "bootstrap hypothesis" was conjured up; through the study and experimentation with the S-matrix theory.
